Ricoh launches new smart operation panel with quick, easy navigation that simplifies complex tasks

Amstelveen, The Netherlands, 01 September 2015 – Ricoh Europe has developed a new tablet-style smart control panel that will make using Ricoh multifunctional products more user-friendly and faster than ever before. The panel will be launched on Ricoh’s new MP C306ZSP/MP C306ZSPF/MP C406ZSPF series of desktop A4 multifunctionals.

The new 10.1-inch operation panel is as quick and intuitive to use as a smartphone or tablet and will boost office productivity by significantly reducing the time spent on routine tasks. Office workers can navigate using familiar movements such as swiping to scroll and pinching to zoom in and out. For added convenience, the panel also allows internet access, allowing users to browse, view videos and print web pages from the MFP.

Flexibility was a key priority when designing and developing the new operation panel. The home screen gives immediate access to workflow simplifying apps and is easy to customise for optimal efficiency. App icons can be dragged, dropped, rearranged and deleted as on any other smart device screen. Toner levels and the date and time are displayed in clear widgets, which can be placed anywhere on the home page. Users can also add wallpapers, change the background colour and adapt the colour, shape, position and wording of buttons.

The customisation options also extend to the interface. The quick user interface displays only the most frequently used functions: quick copy, quick scan and quick fax. Alternatively, the traditional Ricoh legacy interface can be selected by those who prefer to see the full range of MFP functions, including copy, print, fax and document server. The legacy interface also gives access to software solutions like Streamline NX, GSNX and Equitrac for efficient document management.

The panel’s large size and easy, familiar use make it perfectly compatible with convenient apps for smooth, dynamic office processes. For example, Ricoh’s free Smart Device Connector app enables simple, secure, one-touch connection between a smart device and a Ricoh MFP. Apple smart devices can connect by simply scanning a unique QR code on the MFP. Android users can connect directly using NFC technology. This saves time by eliminating the need to register the smart device or join the organisation’s network.
