Ricoh Belgium acquires Orbid to extend IT Services nationwide

Vilvoorde/Merelbeke, May 19, 2020 – Ricoh Belgium today announced the significant expansion of its IT Services (ITS) operations with the acquisition of Orbid.

Orbid is headquartered in Merelbeke northern Belgium, with satellite offices in Antwerp, Geel and Lokeren. The company specialises in critical IT infrastructures, managed services, data centres, private and hybrid cloud, application development & management and HR consulting. A total of 140 company experts support 775 customers with their daily IT challenges. The acquisition will see all Orbid staff remain in their current positions.
The acquisition significantly strengthens Ricoh’s ITS offering across the whole of Belgium.  In 2015, Ricoh acquired Upfront, located in the French speaking part of Belgium, and in 2018 acquired Telesafe in Wemmel, Flemish Brabant. With the acquisition of Orbid, Ricoh Belgium is now one of the leading IT companies in Belgium, guaranteeing national coverage to its customers.
Eric Gryson, CEO, Ricoh Belgium – Luxemburg, says: “This is a new chapter in our transformation story, making our ambition to become our customers’ exclusive partner for all their IT processes more concrete. In these turbulent times, when good news takes on a certain dimension, I am delighted to welcome Orbid and its CEO Jan Verfaellie in the Ricoh family. Orbid is a wonderful company, a flagship of entrepreneurship in Flanders, and it will help us to achieve our goals even faster.”
Jan Verfaellie, CEO, Orbid, comments: “For more than 20 years, we have been assisting SMEs with flexible support, advice and projects in ICT, Software and HR. By joining the international Ricoh family, we can continue our strong growth in the coming years and support each other’s customers even better. We do this with the trusted Orbid team, processes and tools. We are excited about this new step and together with Ricoh we will make this a success story.”
Alberto Mariani, Senior Vice President, Office Services, Ricoh Europe, adds: “This is a significant acquisition that further strengthens our thriving IT Services business. It is also another step forward in our journey to becoming a digital services company. I look forward to welcoming Orbid staff during this exciting time for the Ricoh business”.
