Bell & Bain focuses on quality and flexibility with Ricoh Pro™ VC60000 technology

Ricoh Europe, London, 27 June 2017 Bell & Bain will be the first European book printer to elevate its digital book printing service with the Ricoh Pro™ VC60000 continuous feed production inkjet platform.

One of the oldest book printers in the UK, Glasgow-based company Bell & Bain is also the first Scottish operation to choose to invest in the high speed inkjet system from Ricoh.

Established in 1831, Bell & Bain specialises in the printing and binding of business, educational, financial, medical, scientific and religious books and journals. The company’s extensive production facilities consist of both digital and offset printing as well as an impressive range of binding equipment.

Managing Director Stephen Docherty explains: “We chose the Ricoh Pro VC60000 because of its outstanding print quality. There was extensive market research and many trial print tests, including various new ink and ink head technologies. Overall, we felt the Ricoh Pro VC60000 gave our market the most consistent quality. “Together with Ricoh’s TotalFlow BatchBuilder workflow automation solution, it will help us elevate our high quality short run digital colour book production. We are excited to be bringing it to the British publishing market.”

Eef de Ridder, Director, Commercial and Industrial Printing, Ricoh Europe, comments: “We are delighted that such a prestigious book printer has identified the production enhancing capabilities of the Pro VC60000. The system has transformed the operational approach for a number of commercial printers and direct mailers and now it is making an impact among book printers looking to make enhance their flexibility and responsiveness.”

The Pro VC60000 can produce more than 6,000 copies of a 128 page book in an eight hour shift. Featuring Ricoh’s patented multidrop inkjetting technology, Ricoh’s own inks and Digital Front End, the Pro VC60000 reduces make ready time and speeds up turnaround, maximises operational efficiency and allows greater control of costs. It provides a function-rich total solution for print operations new to high speed inkjet and for those who want to consolidate and streamline hybrid operations to grow their businesses.

Bell & Bain will install the Ricoh Pro VC60000 in September.
