Company:
The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) manages primary and secondary education across the Western Cape province in South Africa. Part of the provincial government, WCED is responsible for educational planning, managing the curriculum, assessments, and examinations, as well as providing support to schools.
Challenge:
As part of its core operations, WCED prints high volumes of examination papers, along with various other learning materials, directives, and reports. To produce these often time sensitive materials in different formats and designs, WCED relies on a range of printers, including mono and colour devices. With its existing equipment ageing, WCED launched a tender to find more advanced, reliable devices, with ongoing vendor support.
Solution & Benefits:
Working with Ricoh, WCED planned and implemented an upgrade of its print capabilities. Today, WCED uses a combination of mono and colour printers from Ricoh, including the sheetfed RICOH Pro™ 8320, Pro 8320S, and Pro C9200, and the high speed inkjet RICOH Pro™ V20000. Alongside the devices, WCED benefits from on site technicians from Ricoh, who are on hand to finetune and optimise print performance and uptime, ensuring examination papers and other materials are ready on time, every time.
“We are very happy with the new machinery, and we’ve had very limited downtime as the Ricoh technicians are always looking and ensuring any issues are sorted out very quickly. To have the smart new machinery, where we can print very high quality papers, has been an absolute plus.”
