The Rotterdam based printing company Printvisie has been a household name for over 45 years. Leander Wünschmann took over the company in 2009 in a rapidly changing market, partly due to the emergence of online players. In addition, client demand for sustainability is growing. After taking the first step towards digital printing, more and more work is shifting from offset presses to digital printing systems. Today, it is not offset but digital print quality that leads the way at Printvisie.
Challenge:
“Customers expect consistent colour quality from us, even if they reorder the same print job six months later, regardless of which printing system we use to produce it,” says Wünschmann. Order manager Rogier Kloos explains: ‘To ensure that the three printing systems are properly aligned with each other, you have to calibrate them. That requires the necessary knowledge and takes time, which means that in practice it doesn't always happen properly. We were therefore looking for an efficient way to achieve a predictable production process.”
Solution & Benefits:
Ricoh offers a solution with the Auto Color Adjuster. “It works quickly and easily” explains Kloos. "Every morning, we print a calibration page on each printing system. The Auto Color Adjuster scans those pages and then adjusts all the machines where necessary. You don't have to do anything else: anyone can do it.”
Printvisie has also obtained the Color Management – Standardisation in Printing and Print certificate for its digital print production. “But such certification is, of course, always a snapshot” explains Wünschmann. “Thanks to the Ricoh Auto Color Adjuster, we can guarantee that quality at a constant level. The number of complaints about colour consistency has been reduced to zero since we started using the Auto Color Adjuster. It really is a ‘magic box’.”
