Delivery, installation and maintenance of automated parcel machines for Polish Post

Company:

Founded in 1558 Poczta Polska (Polish Post) provides postage and logistics, banking, and insurance services. Operating a nationwide network of 7,600 post offices, 14 regional and 13 local sorting facilities, the organisation employs more than 22,000 postmen and delivers 300,000 parcels and four million letters every day.

Challenge:

The postal and logistics sector has seen major changes in recent years: volumes of letters sent through the postal system have declined, while the rise of e-commerce has sparked a rapid increase in the number of parcel deliveries. To improve its offerings for consumers and to compete against other logistics providers, Polish Post looked to implement a network of lockers offering secure, convenient parcel pickup and dispatch options.

Solution & Benefits:

Polish Post engaged Ricoh to install 1,000 76-door automated parcel machines across Poland, integrate the devices with its IT environment, and provide ongoing maintenance and support. The machines enable consumers to collect and dispatch parcels at their convenience, without having to find the time to visit a post office. The streamlined pickup and dispatch model reduces pressure on post offices, and helps to reduce carbon emissions, as delivery vehicles no longer make so many trips to drop off parcels at the premises of recipients.
