Company
Haarlem College, part of Dunamare Education Group, provides pre-vocational secondary education to 840 students at the theoretical, middle-management and basic levels. Senior general secondary education has also recently been added to the program. The school moved from five separate locations to a new building on the outskirts of Haarlem 15 years ago. A large practice room is located on the first floor of the building and was originally home to printing presses for the graphics design course. That space is now occupied by rows of iMacs and 3D printers, but printing has definitely not disappeared.
Challenge
The in-house repro department, under the name Printmedia Service, handles the production of teaching materials and graphic products such as lettering, posters and cards. Peter Jan Hartsuijker, head of Facility Support, and his colleague Rob Zweepe have all kinds of production equipment, including a professional production printer. With the planned replacement of this production printer, they also had to fulfil the desire to be able to send print jobs remotely in the future.
Solution & Benefits
After a market survey, the choice fell on a Ricoh Pro C7500. To process online orders, Ricoh also supplies its Market Direct StoreFront (MDSF) software. Teachers are now making full use of the possibilities. Last-minute print orders are regularly prepared for collection right at the start of a school day. The production system is equipped with an inline Plockmatic booklet maker for the production of professional booklets with a straight spine.
‘Teachers are taking full advantage of the ability to now upload print jobs to our Print Media Service from home.’
