Flatbed printer enables customer personalisation

About Genexis

Genexis specialises in developing and producing modems and periopheral equipment with which providers provision households with broadband internet via glass fiber. The company has grown into an international player with some 160 staff and head offices in Stockholm, Sweden, and Eindhoven. The assembly department is located in Bladel, where all the equipment is tailored to client wishes.

Technical tailoring

Erwin Vermeulen is the Site Manager responsible for Genexis Bladel. With 35 outsourced staff, he is responsible for the assembly and distribution of all the passive and active units that Genexis delivers to providers around the world. In doing so, his clients demand tailored technical solutions. They are also seeking new ways of distinguishing themselves from the competition.

All units are white as standard. But clients also want a sticker and telephone number on their unit. So Genexis went seeking a way to print those stickers. The solution turned out to be the Ricoh TF6251. This flatbed printer is equipped with a specially-designed mold in which the units to be printed on are placed. It allows some 40 units to be provided with a unique full-colour print simultaneously.

Since the installation and training by Ricoh, production is running five days a week full time, often with print runs from 750 to 2000 copies. Interest among clients is growing, and Genexis itself also sees new opportunities - using client specific print possibilities to distinguish themselves in the market.
