The next generation in production printing

Ricoh at drupa 2008

drupa 29 May – 11 June 2008, Hall 9, Booth A60 – Ricoh is demonstrating the next generation in digital production printing at drupa 2008.  It will also show, for the first time in Europe, the Pro™C900 and C900s, the new colour digital printer offering high-volume printing. In addition, drupa 2008 marks the first anniversary of the joint venture between Ricoh and IBM’s printing Systems Division, InfoPrint Solutions Company.

The Ricoh booth is conveniently organised into two key areas: corporate and commercial printing. Visitors with corporate printing needs are invited to see how Ricoh solutions can help to maximise efficiency, minimise costs and manage critical printing applications. Ricoh will demonstrate a range of integrated workflow management tools including native IPDS printing and variable data printing. For commercial printing, Ricoh is demonstrating solutions that deliver high-quality, cost-effective printing, including its user-friendly job submission tools.

Visitors to the Ricoh booth can learn more about Ricoh production printing workflows including web-to-print, personalised printing and transactional printing. In addition, Ricoh will show the latest high-volume printing graphic arts solution, featuring the Pro™C900s and EFI Fiery® RIP.

Web-to-print
Ricoh production print devices are fully supported with a range of digital job submission software tools including web-to-print and digital storefront solutions. Demonstrations on the booth include an entry-level web-to-print solution, the Infotec PrintTicket suite and a sophisticated store front solution, Digital StoreFront® from EFI.

PrintTicket users can submit work from any location, however remote, communicating with the print service provider via the internet or intranet. Client software is not necessary as all features are selectable from a browser interface.

Digital StoreFront® enables users to send and proof documents from a desktop, wherever they are in the world.  End-to-end workflow solutions can be created by seamlessly integrating Digital StoreFront® into production workflow management solutions.

Production Workflow
The Production Workflow demonstrations with the Aficio™MPC6000, Pro™906EX and Pro™C900s will feature MicroPress and Fiery® Central from EFI, both of which are JDF-compatible.

MicroPress is a high-performance, raster-based production printing workflow solution. Suitable for high-volume, print on demand environments, it enables the production of complex, short-run documents. Fiery Central is a powerful modular, PDF-based workflow solution for the high-volume printing environment, designed to decrease turnaround times and increase job volumes.

Ricoh will also demonstrate an end-to-end workflow management solution with its unique software from Infotec.  Infostream is an essential management tool for print rooms and distributed print environments. A complete print management solution, Infostream provides control over every aspect of print production from job submission to print output and cost allocation.

Personalised printing
Personalised printing demonstrations with the Pro™C900s, Aficio™MPC6000, and Pro™906EX feature the PlanetPress® and PrintShop Mail software from ObjectifLune.  PlanetPress® Suite enables easy creation and printing of transactional and promotional variable content documents as well as offering advanced automated distribution and workflow management capabilities. PrintShop Mail is a fast and flexible variable data printing solution for the production of simple and complex variable data printing jobs.

Transactional printing
Selected Ricoh printers feature native IPDS support which is unique to Ricoh and delivers output that is 100% accurate. Corporate and commercial printers need not worry about important data being lost in translation between systems.  Ricoh’s transactional printing solutions are also compliant with DJDE and Metacode datastreams. The Pro™906EX and EMP156 are being demonstrated with the Ricoh IPDS solution and the Mercury software from docuFORM®.

Peter Van der Kaag, Corporate Communications Director, Ricoh Europe, says, “It is the first time Ricoh will exhibit at the drupa show and we welcome the opportunity to demonstrate our production printing technology. We are confident that Ricoh’s efficient and productive solutions mark the next generation in production printing.”
