Aficio™SP 8200DN – Productive Black and White Power Printer for High Print Volumes and Dedicated Workgroups

Amstelveen, The Netherlands, April 2008 – Ricoh Europe (Netherlands) B.V. introduces the Aficio™SP 8200DN, a versatile and cost-effective high volume printer. It is ideal for mid-sized to large offices and dedicated workgroups. This black and white A3 device prints up to 50 pages per minute, with a peak duty cycle of up to 300,000 pages per month. It provides users with a reliable solution for large dedicated volumes as well as everyday print jobs. In addition, the SP 8200DN can be used as a dedicated resource in SAP®, IBM® and UNIX environments.

Valerie Croese, Product Manager at Ricoh Europe (Netherlands) B.V., comments: “The Category 5 segment is the fastest growing segment of the single-function black and white printer market. To serve customers in this segment Ricoh has developed the SP 8200DN. It targets specific vertical markets for large in-house print volumes, seeking performance, reliability and high-value Total Cost of Ownership. In addition, the SP 8200DN is designed for integration in dedicated environments for host printing, on-demand printing or central reprographics.”

The Aficio™SP 8200DN has been especially designed to deliver outstanding performance in high-pressure environments. It can print up to 50 pages per minute, even in full duplex. It also boasts a quick, 25-second warm-up time and a super-fast first print speed of only 3.5 seconds. With a maximum paper capacity of 4,400 sheets, users can complete their print jobs without interruptions. Media versatility is excellent, as the SP 8200DN can support plain and recycled paper, transparencies, cards, envelopes, as well as thick paper up to 169 g/m². It can even handle 216 g/m² on specific paper types. What’s more, with either a first-class 3,000-sheet or a budget-friendly 1,000-sheet finisher, professional documents can be easily created in-house.

The Aficio™SP 8200DN supports a range of different networking protocols and is supplied with a range of features to reduce the network load. With SAP® R/3® and IBM® System i5™ HPT connectivity, barcode and data stream printing are supported. By installing the optional IPDS unit, users can directly print transactional documents, such as invoices or bank statements, without the need for a print box or server. The large 40 GB hard disk drive allows documents to be stored in memory and printed whenever it is convenient. There is also a PDF Direct Print feature, which allows PDF printing without requiring a driver therefore, minimising network traffic.

To protect sensitive information, enhanced security features are central to the design of the Aficio™SP 8200DN. These include data encryption, authentication and controlled access capabilities and watermark protection. The Data Overwrite Security Unit erases and overwrites temporary data on the device’s Hard Disk Drive.

The Aficio™SP 8200DN is the latest addition to Ricoh’s advanced range of digital office equipment. Ricoh currently manufactures one of the world’s most extensive line ups of printers, copiers, scanners, faxes and multifunctional devices, as well as advanced software solutions.
