Ricoh Sponsors the FIS World Cup Ski Jump in the 2006 – 2007 Season

Amstelveen, The Netherlands, 23 November 2006 -- Ricoh Europe B.V. today announced its continued support for the FIS World Cup Ski Jumping for the season 2006 – 2007. As official data, copy and fax service supplier Ricoh takes care of the information service. In addition to this, Ricoh will supply the on-screen graphical inserts during the events. The FIS World Cup Ski Jump consists of a series of jumps all over the world. The 2006 – 2007 winter season starts on November 24th in Kuusamo (Finland) and finishes on March 25th, 2007 in Planica (Slovenia).

The sponsorship is part of the long-term contract between Rich and the FIS (International Ski Federation) and marks the long cooperation between the FIS and Ricoh. From the 4-Hill tournament in 1988 onwards Ricoh has been involved in the World Cup Ski Jump. Initially as copy and fax service supplier, Ricoh nowadays is responsible for data and timing provision.

"The FIS World Cup Ski Jump embodies all we offer as a company" explains Peter Van der Kaag, General Manager for Corporate Communication at Ricoh Europe B.V. "It is a great marriage of speed, skills, know-how and experience – all ingredients for success in corporate life as well. It’s fast, international and very visual, elements that inspire and drive Ricoh too and we believe the competition encourages the spirit of achievement and honest sportsmanship among the young."

Ricoh’s sponsorship involvement extends further than financial support. Provision of the data and timing services involves technical wizardry, people and equipment. On behalf of WIGE MEDIA AG, a long standing Ricoh partner, the on-site timing, data, copy and fax service, as well as the TV inserts – are provided by ST SPORTSERVICE GmbH.

Sponsorship support is important in many sports. It may moderate ticket prices, support facility maintenance and upgrade event organisation. International sports associations like the FIS are often challenged in achieving year-end budget and sponsorship represents an effective assist without compromising the spirit of unbiased best efforts.

Ricoh currently manufactures one of the world’s most extensive line-ups of copiers, printers, scanners, faxes and multifunctional devices as well as advanced software solutions.
