Ricoh’s Aficio™CL3500N/CL3500DN – Cost Conscious Colour Laser Printers with Extensive Customisation Possibilities

Amstelveen, The Netherlands, March 2006 -- Ricoh Europe B.V. today announced the launch of its Aficio™CL3500N and Aficio™CL3500DN A4 colour laser printers. These network ready printers with multiple (wireless) connectivity options are designed for high in-house colour performance at attractive costs. Both devices allow for extensive customisation. The compact mainframes are able to host company-specific software applications and can be expanded to multifunction office systems.

The Aficio™CL3500N/CL3500DN are designed for high speed, high quality colour output. Ricoh’s designers applied Induction Heating technology to induce heat electromagnetically rather than using a conventional heating element. This generates a fast warm up time of under 30 seconds. Continuous print speed is impressive at 21 pages per minute, both in black and white and colour. Both units offer true 1,200 x 1,200 dpi print resolution with built-in automatic colour registration for consistent output.

Even with the high performance standard, cost saving operation is offered through various smart features. Mixed documents containing both black and white and colour pages, for instance, are printed most efficiently thanks to automatic colour detection. Power consumption is one of the lowest in colour laser printing: less than 15 W in energy saver mode.

Ricoh’s open standards probably offer the most extensive customisation possibilities in the market today. The unique Aficio™ architecture allows for total integration of the CL3500N/CL3500DN into existing infrastructures as well as hosting customer-specific software applications on these devices. Anticipating possible future user needs, these printers are expandable to support cost conscious printing, scanning and copying in colour by attaching a compatible Aficio™ scanner.

Space requirements are minimal: the Aficio™CL3500DN’s duplex unit is integrated in the mainframe (optional on the Aficio™CL3500N). Thanks to the straight paper path a wide variety of media can be handled up to 199 g/m² with a paper capacity of up to 1,690 sheets.

“We designed both models for cost conscious operations requiring up to 50,000 copies a month from many users and a population of varied applications,” explains Lavesh Lakhina, Product Manager at Ricoh Europe B.V. “Despite their compact footprint, target users can benefit from high performance colour without facing the usual high acquisition and operating costs.”

Compatible with all major network environments, the Aficio™CL3500N and CL3500DN are among the few laser printers on the market to offer both industry Wireless LAN and Bluetooth standards. Real-time device monitoring via the web and management of user privileges are included in Ricoh’s bundled software suite.

The Aficio™CL3500N and Aficio™CL3500DN are the latest additions to Ricoh’s new generation colour printers for professional and general office use. Ricoh currently manufactures one of the most extensive line ups of printers, copiers, scanners, faxes and multifunctional devices, as well as advanced software solutions.
