The demand for print devices with colour capability is rapidly growing. Yet, the initial and running costs of colour MFPs are often prohibiting for smaller offices and workgroups. Ricoh is meeting this need in a completely different way by introducing a new print technology based on a liquid gel with excellent drying characteristics, rather than conventional toner or ink. By utilising this Ricoh patented Liquid Gel™, the Aficio™MP C1500SP produces instantly touch dry, waterproof and sun resistant colour prints and copies. Contrary to traditional technologies, Liquid Gel™ requires no developer or fusing unit, meaning exceptionally low energy consumption (maximum 250 W), minimum maintenance and reduced operation costs.
The Aficio™MP C1500SP has been designed with the user in mind. Printing and copying is at 15 pages in black and white and 6 pages in full colour per minute, while the scanner handles up to 42 originals per minute. Automatic duplexing is available for all functions and media versatility is exceptional supporting paper types up to 220 g/m². In addition to simple and fast paper refills and consumable replacement, the ergonomic operation panel can be tilted providing optimum accessibility. Bundled utilities facilitate remote programming and monitoring benefiting both users and network administrators.
Printing is supported by various drivers such as the Ricoh RPCS™ driver, PCL5c, PCL6 and genuine PostScript® 3™ (option), while security measures are up to the latest standards. Multiple authentication methods, password protection and optional automatic overwriting of data on the Hard Disk Drive after each copy, scan, fax and print job are available.

Using the special Level Color™mode, the cost per page of colour output is similar to black and white output. Using this mode the device recognises colour images and graphics embedded in a document and prints them at 50% thickness. At the same time, contrary to so-called ‘Draft’ modes currently in the market, the Level Color™mode ensures perfectly crisp and sharp black texts at 100% thickness.
Document sharing is simplified as well with the Aficio™MP C1500SP. Ricoh’s ‘scan to’ technology makes it simple to send all types of documents to any location, instantly and securely. In addition, faxes can be sent directly from the PC, and photos printed directly, without the need for a computer.
Like all of Ricoh’s products, the Aficio™MP C1500SP’s design is based on minimum impact on the environment. Energy consumption is extremely low and noise levels and ozone emissions are minimal.
