| | | Ricoh’s Aficio™G7500 GelSprinter™ Uses Liquid Gel™ for Affordable and Fast A3 Colour Printing |
| Amstelveen, the Netherlands, October 2005 -- Ricoh Europe B.V. today announced the launch of the Aficio™G7500. Targeting the personal business printing market as well as small office workgroups, the unit offers low cost, high speed A3 colour printing with automatic duplexing. The desktop model features the revolutionary GelSprinter™ technology. Using Ricoh’s patented Liquid Gel™, it offers a remarkable alternative to traditional colour laser and inkjet printing. The Liquid Gel™ dries instantly, providing extremely fast image setting. The unique benefit is that offset, blurring and fading of images are eliminated, resulting in long lasting, high quality prints. At the same time the cost for colour printing can be greatly reduced. |
Thanks to the close-to-zero drying time of the Liquid Gel™, colours will not smudge, blur or fade and images are waterproof and sunlight resistant. In addition to the use of Liquid Gel™, GelSprinter™ offers a combination of innovations and high end technologies. Exceptionally wide print heads in combination with Ricoh’s Modulated Dot (M-Dot) technology enable the production of solid colour images (maximum 3,600 dpi) at high printing speeds of up to 20 pages per minute. Stable paper transport and optimum imaging is guaranteed by using an electrostatic belt transfer system instead of conventional rollers. Additionally, with a maximum paper capacity of 751 sheets, the Aficio™G7500 uses normal office paper types, avoiding the cost of special paper. At speeds of up to 20 pages per minute for both colour and black and white, the Aficio™G7500 is designed to meet the needs of demanding office users. Warm up time is modest at 38 seconds and first prints are produced in less than 9 seconds. In addition, the duplex unit allows for back page printing in 20% of the regular printing time. Linda van der Graaf, Product Manager at Ricoh Europe B.V. elaborates on one of the benefits of the GelSprinter™ devices: “With colour becoming a necessity, offices look to control and possibly reduce printing costs. GelSprinter™ greatly facilitates this objective, by offering colour prints at virtually the same cost as black and white. The Level Color™mode prints texts at normal thickness, whereas only half the amount of Liquid Gel™ is used for images and graphics,” she explains, “as a result, any office can afford fast colour printing!” For extra cost efficiency, the Aficio™G7500 comes with four separate high yield print cartridges enabling individual replacement. The GelSprinter™ Dual Tank System, on the other hand, ensures that there are no leftovers when replacement is due. This means economical use of consumables combined with a minimised impact on the environment. Full network capability is available via one of the optional external print servers by silex technology europe GmbH. Ricoh has also included software for easy monitoring from client PCs. The Aficio™G7500 is the third model appearing in Ricoh’s new GelSprinter™ range. Ricoh currently manufactures one of the world's most extensive line ups of printers, copiers, scanners, faxes and multifunctional devices, as well as advanced software solutions.
