Aficio™CL7200/CL7300 – High Speed Laser Printers Bring Cost Effective and Low Maintenance Colour Output to the Office

Amstelveen, the Netherlands, October 2005 -- Ricoh Europe B.V. today announced the introduction of its high end Aficio™CL7200 and Aficio™CL7300 colour laser printers. Allowing cost effective in-house colour printing, the new models bring high levels of functionality. The Aficio™CL7200 is the answer to general office needs, such as low cost production of attractive marketing collateral. For the more sophisticated demands of creative communications operations, the Aficio™CL7300 offers even higher speeds, as well as standard duplexing. User friendly operation, advanced security and connectivity, and environmental design are further benefits that will reassure IT managers, system administrators and users.

The Aficio™CL7200 runs at 32 black and white and 28 colour prints per minute, whereas the CL7300 tops at 35 for both. Duplex output (standard on CL7300) is produced at a similar rate with a printer language dependent resolution of maximum 1,200 x 1,200 dpi.  Paper sizes range from A6 to A3 and the maximum capacity for both units is 3,100 sheets of plain or recycled paper, transparencies, printer labels and envelopes.

For workflow optimisation, documents can be proofed before printing a large job, or stored permanently in the event regular repeat runs are required. If required, print jobs can be held at the Aficio™CL7200/CL7300 until the owner releases them at the operation panel.  PDF Print means PDF files can be printed without accessing Adobe® Acrobat®. The camera direct print card allows a direct digital camera printer link.

The CL7200 and CL7300 support a wide variety of office IT systems, from PCs to Macintoshes to Linux environments. New networking protocols such as Gigabit Ethernet are also supported. Security has become an increasing concern for users and this is a central aspect of the CL7200 and CL7300. Apart from user authentication, key features include the ability to erase all data on the printers, the ability to send encrypted data to be printed and overwriting information on the buffer of the device.

Administration of the printers can be handled from a different location, using remote maintenance and operation panels. Remote administrators can also receive e-mail alerts such as low toner or service calls. For local users, the intuitive operation panels and the high reliability of Ricoh printers make maintenance simple and with the use of oil-free polymerisation toner, energy consumption is further reduced.

"Enhanced colour registration and stable imaging are secured with the Aficio™CL7200 and Aficio™CL7300,” says Tirtza Richartz, Product Manager at Ricoh Europe B.V. But she is not only confident of the image quality of the new models: “The reason for Ricoh to launch these printers is twofold,” she says, “first of all we aim to anticipate the market trend for higher quality, lower cost in-house colour production. By offering the two models, we satisfy the needs of the general office segment, as well as more sophisticated document handling demands.  Secondly, by offering competitive advantages, our new top models will enable us to further expand Ricoh’s position as a printer manufacturer in the European region.”

The Aficio™CL7200/CL7300 are the latest additions to Ricoh's range of colour printers. The company currently manufactures one of the world's most extensive line-ups of copiers, printers, scanners, faxes and multifunctional devices, as well as advanced software solutions.
