Ricoh Announces Equitrac Express™ – Flexible Cost Allocation & Recovery for Public Access Environments

Amstelveen, the Netherlands, November 2005 -- Ricoh Europe B.V., the leading office automation manufacturer, today announced the introduction of Equitrac Express™, offering an integrated solution for managing costs and print and copy activities. This solution is affordable, extendable, scalable and component based.

Equitrac Express™ delivers total transparency, high security and easy recovery of document output costs in public access environments, such as universities, schools and libraries. The education and library environments will benefit from the integration with a number of 3rd party vending equipment which provides students, faculty and staff several convenient payment possibilities.   Equitrac Express™  also provides the ability to manage non-registered users, which means all print and copy costs can be allocated.

“Many organisations in the public access sector are  facing increasing pressure to ensure secured device access to both registered staff and anonymous users. At the same time they need to allocate and efficiently monitor, manage and recover document output costs“, explains Jeroen Kamphuis, Assistant Manager at Ricoh Europe’s Printing Solution Department. “By introducing Equitrac Express™, Ricoh anticipated on this need.”

On the one hand, Equitrac Express™ addresses privacy concerns and creates a secure environment within which only authenticated users can release their documents. Various authentication methods are available as well as flexible payment options such as cash, stored value cards or network print accounts.

On the other hand, this document accounting system allows for accurate cost allocation and recovery. Faculty members can allocate document output costs to specific departments. They can easily charge for specific or additional document features such as file or paper size, media type, colour, duplexing and stapling, using customer specific price schedules. Equitrac Express™ reduces the waste of unclaimed printing and shows exactly how printers and copiers are being used, which means an increased control over device access.

To ensure this cost accounting solution can be tailored to specific customer requirements, Ricoh offers a variety of dedicated, fully integrated options like PCC. Using the Ricoh unique embedded Print & Copy Control (PCC) module, users can identify themselves on the MFP display via a PIN code or user ID/password to start copying or retrieving a print job.

Equitrac Express™ uses Equitrac’s new product platform architecture. Equitrac Express™ is the latest addition to Ricoh’s line up of software solutions designed to help customers improve work processes, enhance efficiency and ultimately improve profitability. Ricoh’s software solutions encompass five key areas including, network print management and control, document and information management, document distribution, forms management and workflow solutions.
