Ricoh’s Aficio™IS760D Offers Affordable High Speed Duplex A3 Colour Scanning and Advanced Document Distribution

The Aficio™IS760D comes with a number of built-in image processing functions: auto-cropping, de-skewing, dropout colour, and – when the optional image processing unit is installed –, dynamic threshold, auto photo and select area. And with the Reversible background (black or white) feature, the IS760D detects and automatically crops the scanned document to the corresponding document size. But the real convenience of the Aficio™IS760D lies in its distribution capabilities.  Four advanced methods are at the user’s fingertips: scan to print, scan to e-mail, scan to folder and scan to FTP. Scan to print enables colour output to printers thus doubling as occasional colour printer/copier. Scan to e-mail means instant digital and hard copy anywhere in the world, scan to folder distributes without extra server or software, and scan to FTP conveniently shares large files with remote offices by scanning to an FTP server on the LAN or WAN.

A3 design means problem-free processing of non-standard dimension originals, 24-bit colour means the machine can handle many types of document, and the system’s double feed detector (that senses differences in paper thickness) avoids paper jams.  Connectivity is optimised by USB 2.0 and SCSI 3 interfaces, with FireWire (IEEE 1394) or Ethernet 10 base–T/100 base-TX optional. 

For a modest size unit, the scan capabilities of the Aficio™IS760D are impressive. With an image output resolution of up to 800 dpi, the Aficio™IS760D offers a warm up time of less than 20 seconds (4 seconds from energy saver mode) and an impressive scanning speed of 70 ppm in black & white and 38 ppm in colour.  Duplex scanning reaches up to 116 ipm black and white and 60 ipm in colour. The 200-sheet capacity ADF is able to handle a wide variety of documents from a low of 70 x 90 mm to a high of 305 x 2,000 mm, and paper of 40 to 155 g/m². The zoom facility ranges from 25 to 400 % with the optional Network Scanning Unit. Dimensions are 500 x 700 x 330 mm.
