Aficio™IS200e: High Speed Colour Network Scanner Offering Broad Connectivity and Multiple ‘Scan to’ Functions

Amstelveen, the Netherlands, April 2005 -- Ricoh Europe B.V. today announced the introduction of the Aficio™IS200e stand alone A4 colour network scanner. This economically priced unit offers high speed, excellent network compatibility and an impressive range of ‘scan to’ functionality. The IS200e has been designed primarily to assist all those who wish to share existing hard copy colour and B/W documents fast and conveniently with many recipients. Stand alone or network linked, the Aficio™IS200e offers many document distribution options. ‘Scan to print, e-mail, folder and FTP’ is a powerful communications package for today’s distributed operations requiring central support.

The Aficio™IS200e is a full colour duplex scanner, with a 50-sheet Automatic Reverse Document Feeder, a 33 ppm scan speed in B/W, 17 ppm in full colour, and warm up time of under 45 seconds. The unit has convenient desktop dimensions of 450 x 485 x 195 mm and weighs less than 14 kg. Quality is variable according to settings but has a potential 600 x 600 dpi resolution. The 25 - 400% zoom capability means overviews and details can be equally easily distributed.

Connected to a printer, the IS200e becomes a multifunctional peripheral which uses ‘scan to print’ to facilitate occasional copying. Connectivity is Ethernet 10 base-T/100 base-TX, USB 2.0 for connection to printer, TCP/IP for network integration. It outputs to all commonly used file formats such as TIFF, JPEG and PDF.

Monitoring can be done from the desktop through a common web browser, and the integrated software means no additional software is required. Network administrators can change settings using Web Status Monitor or USB keyboard. Security is tight with a sophisticated authentication function protecting access, settings and data.

‘Scan to print’ offers immediate economical colour output through existing printers. ‘Scan to e-mail’ means instant communication with any e-mail address in the world using a web browser to manage the integrated e-mail address book. ’Scan to folder’ means direct distribution to any PC in the network without extra server or software requirements. ‘Scan to FTP’ stands for convenient sharing of large files by scanning to an FTP server in a LAN or WAN.

Mr. Chi Chung Man is product manager at Ricoh Europe B.V. and feels this lightweight, affordable but heavy capability unit will be very popular: “The Aficio™IS200e has a lot of great features that will make life easier for all those who need to share images promptly across a complex distribution environment. It is meant for general and specially satellite offices that require scanning and affordable copying functionality. It is fast, economical and effective. It was also designed in an environmentally responsible manner. The unit has easily recyclable parts, a long life cycle and a low power consumption of 47 W.”

The Aficio™IS200e is the latest addition to Ricoh's range of scanners. The company currently manufactures one of the world's most extensive line ups of copiers, printers, scanners, faxes and multifunctional devices, as well as advanced software solutions.
