|
| | Amstelveen, The Netherlands, October, 2004 -- Ricoh Europe B.V., the European headquarters of Ricoh Company Ltd., Tokyo, announces the launch of Real Time Clock Modules, R2045S and R2045D. The main feature of these products is that the RTC IC and the crystal are embedded in one package, ready to use. The R2045S and R2045D are easy to design RTC solutions since the RTC IC and crystal are already matched and the RTC circuit is pre-adjusted at high accuracy providing minimum clock deviation. Therefore Ricoh's R2045S and R2045D save valuable design time and costs. The RTC modules can be used for applications such as Power Meters, Set-Top Boxes and Vending Machines. |
Ricoh’s new RTC modules are designed for a customer who demands high precision performance in combination with an easy to design RTC circuit. The traditional way of matching RTC IC’s and crystal’s electrical specifications consumes time and increases costs when searching for the best match to reach optimal oscillator performance in all circumstances. The advantage of Ricoh’s RTC modules is that they are designed together with a crystal using the recommended specifications. The R2045S and R2045D are pre-adjusted at Ricoh’s factory. As a result a high accuracy of ± 5 ppm is reached and the product is ready to use. There is no need for adjustment during mass production of the application. In addition, a time trimming function can be used to compensate oscillator deviation by software for additional temperature correction by using data from an external temperature measurement system or seasonal adjustment according to the clock’s date information. The modules have excellent oscillator stability, only ± 1 ppm in a supply voltage range of 2.0 V to 5.5 V, low power consumption of 0.48 µA Typical and low time keeping voltage of 1.15 V Typical. Ricoh R2045S and R2045D are designed to use a 4-wire SPI Bus interface to communicate with the CPU or other logic integrated circuits. Operation on a 3-wire interface is also possible by combining the serial input (SI) and serial output (SO) terminals. The Ricoh RTC module is available in two packages, R2045S in SOP14 and R2045D in a smaller SON22 package.
