Ricoh Aficio™CL7100 - High Speed Colour Laser Printer Provides a Cost Efficient Alternative for Outsourcing of Large Print Jobs

Amstelveen, The Netherlands, June 2004 -- Leading office automation manufacturer Ricoh announced the introduction of the Aficio™CL7100. Part of its new printer generation, this new colour laser printer targets the high speed office segment. The Aficio™CL7100 offers an advanced print solution that combines high speed with professional quality. The tandem engine features a fast processor for printing 35 pages per minute in both black and white and full colour. The system supports high speed auto duplexing, PDF Direct Print and all the finishing options modern office applications may possibly require. Combined with its automatic calibration and major colour profiles, the Aficio™CL7100 is regarded a competent, cost efficient alternative for outsourcing of large print jobs.

Suitable for both central print rooms and general office environments, the Aficio™CL7100 quickly and easily copes with long print runs. It prints double sided pages at the same 35 ppm rate as single sided pages. In line with their ever-increasing popularity, PDF documents will be printed instantly, without passing through the user PC's software Raster Image Processor (RIP).

Apart from a fast throughput, exceptional image quality is a key differentiator of the Aficio™CL7100 within the high speed office colour segment. At 1,200 dpi, the Aficio™CL7100 meets the highest demands in terms of output resolution. With the Black-over-Print function enabled, the Aficio™CL7100 will automatically correct image shifts occurring between dark print on a lighter coloured background. Its engine routinely calibrates for accurate colour rendering. The Aficio™CL7100 boasts both SWOP and Euroscale ink profiles to simulate the kind of colour reproduction previously only associated with the printing press.

Adding to the professional capabilities, this printer has a series of unique extras, such as a powerful 2,000-sheet finisher, an optional booklet maker and a saddle stitch stapler. Furthermore users have the option of expanding paper capacity up to 3,100 sheets making high volume print jobs significantly easier. The Aficio™CL7100 handles envelopes, cards, labels and many other types of media. Such features enable offices to produce newsletters, direct mail pieces and other professional colour documents in-house, easily and at low cost.

"This printer bridges the gap between traditional office colour printing and high end colour systems," says Tirtza Richartz, Product Manager at Ricoh Europe B.V. "It is perfectly fitted to tackle those jobs that would otherwise be outsourced at high costs. With the Aficio™CL7100 businesses can finally keep colour printing in their own hands, without the expenses of outsourcing and without the hassle of having to deal with complex graphic features."

In addition to the general office and print rooms, high security environments will benefit om the Aficio™CL7100. Its security features will especially appeal to governmental institutions, the legal and financial industry and medical organisations. Locked Print™ enables password protected confidential printing and with SSL/TLS, communication between PC and printer runs over a Virtual Private Network. Documents sent to the printer are encrypted, ensuring optimum security. Aficio™CL7100.
