Ricoh Aficio™CL1000N - Offering Compact, Cost Effective Colour Laser Printing

Amstelveen, The Netherlands, June 2004 -- Leading office equipment manufacturer Ricoh today announced the introduction of its Aficio™CL1000N colour laser printer targeting smaller work groups and desktop roles. The model boasts a feature spectrum well beyond what its size, weight and price would suggest. With very fast throughput, extensive network connectivity, bundled software and PDF Direct Print, it lays claim to best featured colour laser printer in its class.

The Aficio™CL1000N is a member of a new printer generation with compact dimensions, low noise and the first colour print appearing in 20 seconds. The fast print engine produces 8 ppm in colour and 31 ppm in B/W. The optional duplex module prints just as fast. The unit comes standard with Adobe® PostScript® 3™. Full colour PDF documents print at high speed and high quality by direct conversion of the PDF code. Paper handling is impressive with a 780 standard weight sheet capacity, and capability of processing envelopes, labels and glossy paper to 210 g/m2.

Arno Jongsma, Product Manager at Ricoh Europe B.V., feels the Aficio™CL1000N will open a lot of doors. "It is well designed, can be managed at a distance and is very economic. Good quality from a small, affordable machine that is easily operated and maintained by its users. One of the best featured low cost colour lasers in the market. Basically we trust it will be the preferred device to replace client monochrome laser and inkjet printers," he emphasises.

The unit's connectivity benefits from developments on big machines. The Aficio™CL1000N has a network interface board, Ethernet and USB 2.0 built-in and Wireless LAN and Bluetooth capabilities as options. It can store workgroup print data in the document server with workflow integration software DeskTopBinder™ V2 Lite allowing merging of different formats into a single file. Stored data can be retrieved, files viewed, reorganised, changed or deleted with Web Image Monitor through a web browser at any time and from any location.

With Web SmartDeviceMonitor™, the status of networked peripherals can be monitored and checked through common web browsers. IT managers and network administrators can set user privileges and restrict (colour) usage. The user can select the driver and with the Aficio™CL1000N supporting PCL5c, genuine Adobe® PostScript® 3™ and the company's own one click print driver RPCS™, capabilities are extensive.

The Aficio™CL1000N is the latest addition to Ricoh's new generation colour printers. Its full features combined with competitive cost are competently supporting the increasingly popular use of colour in general office environments. Ricoh currently manufactures one of the most extensive line ups of copiers, printers, scanners, faxes and multifunctional devices, as well as advanced software solutions.
