Amstelveen, The Netherlands, November 2003 -- Ricoh, the leading office automation manufacturer announces the launch of three new models: the Aficio™2022, Aficio™2027 and Aficio™2032. These easy-to-use multi-functional peripherals (MFPs) combine speed and reliability with innovative features and offer a wide range of connectivity options. The new Ricoh models target small to medium-sized offices and workgroups that require cost-effective copying, printing, scanning and faxing. All three devices are copier-based and easily upgradeable with print/scan and fax functionality. New features on the Aficio™2022/2027/2032 are: 'scan to folder', 'scan to e-mail' with LDAP and Internet fax.

With output speeds at 22, 27 and 32 pages per minute, all three devices are ideal for offices with a wide variety of document needs. Combined with a rapid warm-up speed, these systems facilitate optimum performance levels.

When equipped with the printer/scanner module, the easy-to-use RPCS™ (Refined Print Command Stream) driver guides users to their required print settings by means of an icon-based interface. Users can save their job settings for one-click printing time and time again, eliminating time-consuming programming steps and increasing productivity. Security features are built in for printing confidential documents. Locked Print™ prevents print documents from being read by unauthorised persons. User identification at the machines' operation panel is required before a confidential print job is released. The intuitive QWERTY keyboard style touch screen enables users to easily access and select all of the MFP functions at the touch of a button. Even first-time users can effortlessly employ the full potential of these devices, regardless of their network environment.

Next to the standard network connection and parallel interface, the new models offer a range of connectivity options. USB2 connectivity provides simple and quick connection, while supporting all major industry standard printer languages and network environments.

Wireless LAN (IEEE802.11b) and Bluetooth allow for single wireless connections from computer to printer, reducing cabling in the office. IEEE 1394 offers the ability to expand the network with high-speed data transfer for enhanced communication flow.

'Scan to e-mail' provides a smart alternative to faxing. It enables users to scan documents and send them as e-mails, directly from the machines' touch panel. Users have the choice of either manually entering an e-mail address via the QWERTY keypad or accessing address books on network PCs via the bundled Web Image Monitor software. In addition, it is possible to access the company e-mail address book via LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), eliminating the need for individual users to manually enter addresses. As with common e-mail communication, user authentication via the SMTP/mail server prevents unauthorised users from accessing send and receive functions. A solution for quick retrieval and distribution of large documents that cannot be sent via e-mail is offered by 'scan to folder'. This feature allows large-sized files to be sent directly to a folder in the network in Windows® environments, as well as in mixed operating system environments.

Innovative, web-based software tools ensure seamless access to the machine. Web Image Monitor comes pre-installed and is accessible via a common web browser. This saves time for the network administrator as there is no need to load software onto individual user PCs. The document server eliminates the need for frequently used documents to be stored on a local PC. With the document server installed, users can view, download or reprint often used documents which are stored in the device. Available from any networked PC this allows print-on-demand. Via Web Image Monitor, the paperless fax feature allows users to view incoming faxes on the server and choose to either read, print or download them onto a PC. Apart from saving paper this feature does not even require a dedicated server, which makes use even easier. To provide (heavy) fax users with the tool to considerably reduce their fax communication costs, Internet fax is available for sending faxes over long distances.

The Aficio™2022/2027 and Aficio™2032 are the latest additions to Ricoh's advanced range of MFPs. Ricoh currently manufactures one of the most extensive line-ups of printers, copiers, scanners, faxes and multi-functional devices, as well as advanced software solutions.
