FAX1190L – Ricoh launches new, compact and easy-to-use fax machine

Amstelveen, The Netherlands, June 2010 – Ricoh Europe (Netherlands) B.V. today launched the FAX1190L, a fax machine with one of the smallest footprints in its class thanks to a compact body and a front-loading cassette. Designed for quick and easy use, the FAX1190L has a simple ‘pull-place-&-click’ toner replacement system, a clear intuitive operating panel and a bright back-lit LCD for user prompts and guidance.

“Space is at a premium in many offices, so we have designed the FAX1190L to be compact enough to fit unobtrusively on a desk,” says Sylvester de Koning, Product Manager at Ricoh Europe. “There are no parts that stick out and get in the way; for example, the space-saving front-loading paper tray slides back underneath the machine. The device frees up even more office space as it can be used as a high-quality laser printer, thanks to the full speed USB 2.0, or as a back-up to a regular printer.”

Fast, easy document loading via the 20-sheet automatic feeder together with large operating buttons make faxing quick and simple. When the toner needs replacing it’s a simple case of ‘pull-place-&-click’. Unlike other fax machines that combine toner and drum, with the FAX1190L either toner or drum can be replaced, which reduces consumable costs and environmental impact.

The FAX1190L provides a choice of compression methodologies, which optimise either quality or speed, or a mixture of both. Selecting the preferred data quality is easy using a dedicated button and the LCD. Four image-quality levels and therefore four transmission speeds are available. In addition to the quality optimisation feature, the quality of faxing is ensured by Ricoh’s rigorous quality assurance programmes.

The FAX1190L uses the latest Super G3 modem standard for fast faxing. Documents can be sent and received at the same time thanks to separate outgoing and incoming trays. This dual access feature also means that urgent incoming faxes will never be held up – they will always be received and printed without delay, even when the device is transmitting documents. Other speed and efficiency features include 20 one-touch dials, 200 speed dials, and a 500-page transmit/receive memory.

The number of moving parts in the FAX1190L has been minimised to an absolute minimum. Unlike many other fax machines in this class, the FAX1190L avoids the use of roller feeders and clutches. This makes it extremely reliable and always ready.

The FAX1190L is the latest addition to Ricoh’s advanced range of digital office equipment. Ricoh currently manufactures one of the most extensive line-ups of printers, copiers, faxes and multifunctional devices, as well as advanced software solutions.
