Ricoh reinforces technology leadership through live applications at Ipex 2010

London, 18 May, 2010 – During Ipex 2010, visitors will have the opportunity to see the latest expanded portfolio from Ricoh including InfoPrint Solutions. They can speak to experts about how Ricoh’s products and services can add value and support their business productivity and profitability into the future. Visitors are also invited to be the first to experience a selection of Ricoh Business Driver Programme seminars, which are exploring innovative ways to drive new business opportunities and enhance profitability.

Visitors will also experience sophisticated printing technology through a wide range of applications. They range from printing books, magazines, calendars and transpromotional applications to printing on plastics. The applications will be driven by the latest products and software solutions from both Ricoh and InfoPrint Solutions.

"To learn more about Ricoh, our services and solutions, we invite print service providers to come and see us at Ipex 2010.  We are communicating our 'Just Ask Ricoh' theme to encourage them to do exactly that.  Visitors will experience our wide portfolio excelling in practical, commercial applications," says Graham Moore, Director, Business Development, Ricoh Europe Production Printing Business Group.

"A perfect-bound copy of the children's classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland will be created on the Ricoh stand using the Ricoh Pro C900 illustrating superb registration.  We are printing children's colouring books, saddle stitched and three edge-trimmed inline," adds Moore. "The colouring books' lifespan extends well beyond Ipex 2010 as all copies will be used by Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London after the event."

The Ricoh Pro C900 is demonstrating its ability to print on plastic substrates, by creating polyester plant tags. The tags are UV coated on a Morgana Digicoater 33 and die cut using an Ernst Nagel die cutter for a fully finished product. The Ricoh Pro C720 is printing A5 desktop calendars, with holes already punched for wire-o binding.  The calendars also feature personalised colour images and will be produced in seven different languages.

Visitors will have the opportunity to experience fully integrated colour-managed workflow on the Ricoh stand.  The Ricoh Pro C900 is producing an 86 page yachting magazine using the solutions from Ricoh's partner, Ready4Print, that will ensure that digitally printed pages are colour compliant compared to the offset samples printed to ISO 12647-2.  Sample pages of the magazine will be proofed on multiple devices to the ISO standard, showing the versatility of Ricoh's colour devices for both proofing and production.

On demand printing of personalised sections of the Print Production Handbook are being created using NowPrint®, a web-to-print solution from Ricoh's partner, NowDocs. They are being printed on the Ricoh Pro C900 production device with Creo C-80 controller, saddle stitched and three edge-trimmed inline.

The latest advances in transactional printing are being showcased with a live demonstration of the InfoPrint® 5000. Featuring a built-in AFP colour management architecture, the InfoPrint® 5000 ensures accurate, consistent and device-independent colour rendering.
