Color Controller E-7100 – Colour capabilities that meet professional demands

Amstelveen, The Netherlands, June 2008 – Ricoh Europe (Netherlands) B.V. today introduced the E-7100 Color Controller, an external controller built with the Aficio™MP C6000/MP C7500 multifunctional systems in mind. Equipped with a powerful processor and advanced colour management features, the Fiery®-driven controller adds value to a printer’s performance. In combination with the MP C6000/MP C7500, the E-7100’s consistent colour quality and flexible finishing features form a complete workflow solution.

“Ricoh’s new Color Controller has been developed in collaboration with EFI to offer our customers the best colour printing capacities”, says Raymond Germers, Senior Product Manager at Ricoh Europe. “The E-7100 presents extensive colour management functionalities for the MP C6000/MP C7500. Its standard EFI ColorWise Pro Tools allow users to calibrate the printer, or to create and manage colour profiles. Colour processing happens only once, in-RIP and automatically. Different colour management systems that could conflict do not have to be balanced manually. ICC profiles ensure optimum accuracy, even from RGB applications. The possibility to check print proofs or simulations, or to combine separations, contributes to a professional print result.”

The E-7100’s LCD browser and its customisable interface are only two of the many features that make the device efficient and easy to use. It also offers a range of automated functions, such as colour correction and job management. Command WorkStation allows users to balance loads by splitting jobs or sending them to an alternative server to be processed. Its full-screen previews are editable. Useful optional software includes Auto Trapping to automatically correct registration mistakes. Spot On makes the creation and management of spot colours and named colours straightforward. Hot Folders automate repetitive tasks: a job dragged and dropped into one of these will be processed according to the specifications attributed to the folder.

The Color Controller offers similarly user-friendly solutions for booklet-making. Its imposition program has a graphic user interface via which entire documents can be printed, folded and stacked in booklet order in only a few clicks. If required, chapters or sections are automatically printed on different paper stocks, and tab printing is available as well. Page alignment, image shift and creep are easy to control with the standard adjustment functions. Users who need even more specialised tools can opt for the EFI Impose software package. Variable Data Printing (VDP) is made easy with the standard Fiery FreeForm™ program. It is an entry-level tool with which users can create and store adaptable VDP master templates.

The E-7100’s Intel Celeron M440 1.86 GHz processor prints Adobe® PostScript® and rips fast, which accelerates a print device’s throughput. The sophisticated job queue monitoring and management of Command WorkStation strengthens this effect. The program’s load balancing, archiving and customisation features guarantee a smoother and more streamlined workflow. The Fiery’s status and capabilities can be checked through Web Tools. For optimal distribution, documents can be scanned to e-mail, Hard Disk Drive or Hold Queue. The device is also USB Media Print-capable.

The Color Controller E-7100 is the latest addition to Ricoh's advanced range of digital office equipment. Ricoh currently manufactures one of the world’s most extensive line-ups of printers, copiers, scanners, faxes and multifunctional devices, as well as advanced software solutions.
