Pro™907/1107/1357 – Reliable powerhouses for black and white production
Amstelveen, The Netherlands, August 2009 – Ricoh Europe (Netherlands) B. V. today launched the Pro™907/1107/1357, three powerful printers for B/W production. Printing at a speed of 90, 110 and 135 pages per minute respectively, the new engines are highly productive. To cope efficiently with large jobs, they have been equipped with a robust Data Centre controller. This controller deals expertly with variable data and supports direct mail, on-demand books and applications for one-to-one marketing communications. A variety of in-line finishing options complement the devices’ professional printing capacities. The Pro™907, 1107 and 1357 are ideally suited for production printing environments such as data centres and digital printers.

With a standard decurling unit and paper trays equipped with multi-feed detectors, the systems enjoy maximum uptime. To print IBM® host documents containing text, images, graphics and/or barcodes, an optional Genuine IPDS unit is available. For unsupervised print runs, the paper trays and stackers can be locked. The Data Centre controller supports the printing of banner pages, job reports and logs.”
The Pro™907/1107/1357 produce monochrome quality prints with a maximum resolution of 1,200 dpi. They handle a wide variety of media, ranging from very light (40 g/m²) to heavy (300 g/m²) paper. Registration can be adjusted with great accuracy in case users want to print on non-DIN compliant formats. The devices accept paper up to SRA3 in size, allowing full-bleed A3 printing. Coated and very light or carbonless paper are supported. The smooth processing of offset pre-printed stock is assured by the ultrasonic multi-feed detector. The systems’ flexible media handling allows them to print applications as varied as postcards, direct mail on pre-printed colour stock and on-demand paperback books.
To make the user’s workflow more efficient, several in-line finishers are optionally available. The 3,000-sheet finisher with 100-sheet stapler can be expanded with punch and saddle-stitch units. A unique multi-folding unit, offering six folding patterns, folds brochures or prepares direct mail for an envelope. The double cover interposer can add front and back cover as well as colour pages to a document. Booklets of up to twenty sheets are folded and saddle-stitched with the booklet maker. For extra finish, a trimmer can be added. Ricoh’s high-capacity stackers can stack 5,000 sheets at a time. Two stackers can be connected. Their roll-away carts make near-line or offline finishing and packaging easy.
The Pro™907/1107/1357’s controller has a twin CPU. A purpose-built controller runs the finishers and printer diagnostic reports. A data centre type controller processes heavy jobs with variable data. Combined, they offer professional solutions to optimise the user’s workflow. The devices can be put into mixplex mode to process mixed simplex/duplex jobs at top speed. Users can select specific trays in order to use mixed media for one job. To avoid paper jams when processing perforated paper and label sheets, these media can pass through the system in a different direction. They are rotated, or the job’s print order is reversed. Sample prints, monitoring options and virtual printers save users time and money. Last but not least, an optional IPDS unit is available to ready the Pro™907/1107/1357 for IBM® host documents.
